What is a Greet?
With a Greeter, you get a personal tour of Lübeck. It’s like having a local friend show you around.
Instead of just hearing about dates and buildings, you’ll get to hear the Greeter’s personal stories and discover parts of the city you wouldn’t find in a guidebook.
Conclusion: Our Greeters are the „sights“ with their very own anecdotes!

Duration
A guided tour – called a „Greet“ – usually lasts 2-3 hours, but it can also be longer.
Our city – our guests
We do this out of love for our city and interest in our guests.
Personalized just for you
We don’t form groups. You’ll enjoy the tour with only the people you’re traveling with, up to a maximum of six people. Even if you’re alone, you can still request a Greet.
A personal touch
You’ll experience a highly personalized tour and learn about our everyday lives.

Concept
The idea of a „welcome visitor program“ was initiated in 1992 by the American Lynn Brooks and her Big Apple Greeters in New York City.
Lynn wanted to show guests „her“ New York: a magnificent city with a wide variety of neighborhoods, people, and stories. Since then, numerous destinations around the world have joined, organized as independent groups within the International Greeter Association.
Germany now also has Greeters in many cities. A complete overview of all Greeter programs in Germany can be found at www.deutschland-greeter.de.
