The Idea

The idea was born in New York in 1992 when Lynn Brooks founded the Big Apple Greeters. Since then, Greeter groups have been formed in more than 130 cities and regions around the world, from Argentina to Vietnam. Learn more about Lynn Brooks and the history of the Greeter idea.

All greeter groups share the same core values.

By the way: the “language” of the greeters is usually the “Du”, in the sense of personal contact and the motto: “Come as a guest, leave as a friend”.

Greeters welcome guests to their city/region and accompany them on a two to three-hour, very personal tour, sometimes off the beaten tourist track

Greeters are volunteers who love their city/region and are happy to share that love with their guests

During a walking tour, you will explore the city on foot. Whether you are visiting a city for the first time or regularly, the greeters look forward to seeing you. And of course people from Lübeck are also cordially invited to get a different view of their city

Whether you come alone, as a couple, or as a group of up to six people, a personal Greeter will be assigned to you.

Different requests from visitors are not mixed into one group.
